RE: Restricting Current Into a Heater?

One way that hasn't been suggested yet, is to go inside the heater itself, and pick a point half way through the heater to attach the wire to. This will solve your problem handily.
If you actually bring another connection wire out to a switch capable of handling the full load current, you could have your heater capable of half current, or full current by operating the switch.

Can you identify....

We saw a Class C at an RV show that had four seats in two rows, and a drop down bed over the seats. The front seating area was like a low slung four door crew cab.
Can anyone tell us what kind it might have been.

I have two dollys, one metal, that sits the camper about six inches below the truck when in use... I have hydraulic jacks so it's not nice to have to jack too far.... and the other made of plywood and two by fours.. the jacks just clear the floor when I haul it in. I haul it in with a 2000 pound 60 dollar winch off asphalt... you will need more if you haul off gravel..
Just get a four by eight sheet of plywood, put a frame around the bottom, some good wheels on the frame, and a couple of tow eyes and you are ready to go. Remember, your camper sits in a four by eight box... you only have to go there, but just make sure your jacks are off the floor when it lands on the dolly.

Also, I will add that the Gauge is practically useless. It goes up to ten psi. My Advanced Elements kayak requires two psi, and it would be nice if someone knows of a gauge that will perhaps go up to three or four accurately.

This stuff is absolutely the best product for getting off bugs. Just try it once, and you will be hooked forever.
Spray Nine
Just spray it on, and the bugs just dissolve in front of you. A little bit of brushing, and they are gone and your rig looks like new again.
If you have mildew, or streaks on the side, in just a few minutes you will have restored the white finish beneath it all.
I am not kidding... I've used it for years, it's the only thing I use to clean my camper, and the front of my truck, or any mildew or bug splattered spots on anything at all.
You will be amazed at it's performance. Spray Nine forever

I think there are just too many variables to make such a simplification more than just a passing thought. Most of us would agree, previous customer satisfaction is likely the most significant influence in our purchase. In most major purchases, whether it is a hotel booking, a camera or electronic device, a tool for the shop, or a camper, finding satisfied customers of the product or service that you wish for yourself will cast more "weight" than a 'pounds per dollar' argument.

Here is another easy check to see if the charge is coming from running the truck.
With the camper connected to the truck, but with the motor off, turn on a light in the camper. That should be camper battery power. Now disconnect the camper battery at one terminal. The light should go off.
With one terminal on the camper battery disconnected, but with all the wires that are on that one terminal connected together, if there is more than one wire on the terminal, start the truck.
Now you are running only on truck battery if the light comes on. If it does not come on, you are not connected to the truck charging circuit.

RE: High Altitude TC Accessable sites in British Columbia

Kentucky Allenyne campsite is pretty close to Penticton, but only around 3400 feet. It's only about three hours or less to there from there.
Beware of the flies though. We were there last year for three days, and little deer flies almost killed us. DW was so swollen up from bites...
Install Google Earth and look at the elevation pointer down at the bottom. You can follow roads along and find campsite elevations that way.

RE: T/C Water Pump (?) Problem

Remember that you have to fill your hot water tank first. With the hot tap in the sink open, let the water pump run until water appears at the sink. This means that the HWT is now full.
Your fresh water tank should now need to be topped up.
At this point open the cold water tap, and in seconds water should be there too.
If you fill the HWT always first then you will have a full HWT as well as a full fresh water tank.

RE: 19.5" Wheels / Tires

I put my 285's on 8" wide heavy duty Stockton steel wheels for a perfect fit and a good match for strength too. The wheels are rated 4000-lbs @ 100-psi. The tires are rated 3750-lbs @ 80-psi. The 8" rim width is a perfect fit for the 285 tire width. 7.5" is the skinniest wheel I would put 285's on. Depending on the year of your truck, your rims are probly 7" wide.
Mine are indeed 7 inch rims. What was the pricing like on the Stockton wheels and the 285's compared to the Rickson's or Visions in the 19.5 format please.

If it's leaking around the pump you can buy an entire replacement cylinder for about $30 and it's a very easy fix. It's best to take the jack off your camper and fully extend it to fill the bottom and drain the top before you begin.
Another thing to watch for with Hijacker jacks, if you find yourself having to pump and pump after lowering the foot to the ground, you have lost the bolt that is right in the middle of the foot. This bolt connects the ram to the foot, and so when you pull the foot down, the ram comes down too, sucking the oil out of the reservoir.
Without the bold, the foot comes down, but the ram stays up, and you have to pump it down, about two hundred strokes before it starts to lift.
Look up Hijacker or go here for more information. I even called them once and they put me through to the service dept and was very helpful.

Compared to the many problems with the electrics, and the battery power needed as well, I have become satisfied with my Hijackers.....for now.

One way to estimate fairly closely is to pour measured amounts of water into the bowl. Put some markers on the side of the bowl, and add 'em up to get an idea how much each usage is.
I would say that 8 gallons might be enough, if you don't drink a lot of beer.

RE: New cat urination behavior

I had a similiar problem in the house at home, and we had a motion sensor like one might put on a door trigger an alarm that scared the cat away. Also you might try setting up a webcam that views the behavior in the "cat house" while you are not there just to see if something else starts the behavior.
In our case, we were getting the house painted, and one of the three cats was the culprit. The motion sensing web cam started recording onto the computer as the cat came into the area of concern.
You might also try a second litter box in another spot.

RE: Truck won't charge camper battery

It's an easy check to see if it happening. Start the truck, then turn on a light in the camper. It should be brightly lit. Have someone else stop the truck. If the light doesn't go dimmer, you are not charging from the truck.
The truck alternator puts out more voltage than the battery, that is why the lights are brighter when the truck is running.
There is a seven pin wiring chart on here somewhere. You could check the charging wire to see if it shows voltage when the truck is on, but no voltage when the truck is off. It might be just a fuse, so find that first before you start taking apart plugs. Be sure you have voltage on the camper side of the truck solenoid and the fuse.

Take a little plastic bucket into the shower with you. As you adjust temperature, let the water go into the bucket rather than down the drain. Next time you need to flush or do the dishes, you will have a little in your bucket, and more in your tank.
Park your shower head in the bucket if the leaking bothers you. As least you are going to use that water later.
In my case, I use the leak to rinse off the soap or shampoo from my hands before I press the "on" button again.

Initially you said your suspension was bottoming out as well as you doubted your tires were up to the task. Adding air bags will bring your rear end up, but IMHO you should have heavier springs to prevent the bottoming out.
I think you should add a SuperSpring to help prevent the load from bottoming, then add the air bag if you need to bring up the rear end to make the camper ride level while on the road.

One of the joys of the BB ferry that is well worth considering is arriving at the Victoria terminal in the narrow window that allows you to park on the ferry dock overnight and wait for the morning ferry. It's free to park for the overnight part, and gives you a nice opportunity to take a walk into the downtown section on a summer evening.

I use Michelins, but others use Toyo's and a lot more. With your 1500 what does the "book" say to use? You carry a pop up... Do you need more weight capacity, or are you looking for a more rugged mud/snow tire?
The capacity of the tire is written on the tire. Whether you follow the "book" or not is your choice.
Look for the largest weight bearing tire you can find that will fit your needs in the tread pattern you want.
